The Marine National Park Headquarters (hereinafter referred to as MNPH) will host two sessions of the “Penghu South Four Islands National Park Lecture” on March 27 and 28, 2015, at the Penghu Marine Geology Park Center. Registration will be open from 10:00 a.m. on March 17 to 5:00 p.m. on March 23. Tourism professionals and environmental education personnel in the Penghu area are especially invited to participate!

Penghu South Four Islands National Park was officially designated in June 2014 as Taiwan’s ninth national park and the second marine national park following Dongsha Atoll National Park. It features magnificent basalt geological landscapes, rich and diverse marine and island ecosystems, and traditional cultural and settlement landscapes shaped by migration history. These characteristics provide strong potential for promoting environmental education experiences integrated with ecotourism itineraries. However, as an island ecosystem with limited resources and a fragile environment, Penghu South Four Islands requires careful management to prevent damage caused by increasing visitor numbers. Therefore, this lecture is primarily aimed at tourism and environmental education professionals, with the goal of cultivating participants as ambassadors who can convey the correct concepts of national park development to visitors. Members of the public interested in Penghu South Four Islands National Park are also welcome to attend.

MNPH stated that two lecture sessions will be held on March 27 and 28, 2015, with 70 participants per session. Registration must be completed through the MNPH online registration system between 10:00 a.m. on March 17 and 5:00 p.m. on March 23, or until capacity is reached. Lecture topics will include national park recreational services, relevant laws and regulations, and on-site management practices. Participants will receive a reference book introducing Penghu South Four Islands National Park and a commemorative gift. Registration website: http://signup.cpami.gov.tw/index.aspx. Interested individuals are encouraged to register early!
