We held a two-day event on July 13th and 14th with 40 college students from Taiwan to learn more about South Penghu Marine National Park. During the cruise, they got to learn how to locate on sea and witness different landscapes. They also got to visit the Chi-ming Temple in Dongjiyu, local tribes, visitor center, lighthouse and meteorology station etc. Aeach cleansing event was also held and making art with recycled ocean debris and role play games which allowed them to learn history and how local people live. The second day were about snorkeling and seeing terraced fields, witnessing the beauty of the inland.
On July 27th, we held a family tour event with 25 participants, consisted of seven families. Setting off from Magong, the cruise allowed them to observe the unique basalt landscapes and marine abrasion topographies. Families worked together to observe intertidal creatures, and played "The Fish Net Crisis"card games in Dongji Visitor Center, understand how fishing gears work, types of fishery, and how fishery effects the environment.
The Marine National Park Headquarters tried to let people know more about ocean environment issues while visiting them. While people are appreciating the beautiful sights, we can as well thinking about how to persevering them to achieve sustainable development.
