The Marine National Park Headquarters (hereinafter referred to as the Headquarters) is Taiwan’s first national park administration established with marine resource conservation, research, and education as its primary objectives. The Headquarters currently manages two national parks: Dongsha Atoll and South Penghu Marine National Park. To enhance the quality of online services, align with trends in information integration, and comply with the government’s information disclosure policy, the Headquarters has developed a brand-new integrated global website (hereinafter referred to as this website), which was officially launched on November 9, 2015.

Since its establishment in 2009, the Headquarters’ website has provided Chinese, English, and children’s sections, serving as the main platform for public information disclosure and outreach. In addition, to more fully introduce the unique environments and rich ecosystems of the two marine national parks under its jurisdiction, dedicated thematic websites were separately created for Dongsha Atoll National Park and South Penghu Marine National Park. However, as content among the three websites often overlapped and information became dispersed due to separate development, the Headquarters undertook an integration project to consolidate these resources into a single Marine National Park integrated website. Through this unified platform, comprehensive information on marine conservation, research, education, and recreation related to the Headquarters, Dongsha, and South Penghu can now be accessed more efficiently, enhancing overall website management and service integration.

The redesigned website is based on the “Government Website Template and Content Management Guidelines,” adopting a user-oriented approach. It integrates Web 2.0 concepts, social media features, and new technologies such as Responsive Web Design (RWD), enabling users to browse public information, complete online applications, and engage in two-way communication services across various devices without restriction. The goal is to provide a lively, user-friendly, and diversified information portal that highlights the unique features of Taiwan’s marine national parks and presents topics such as ecological research and nature conservation, thereby promoting marine environmental protection concepts and fostering sustainable oceans. To celebrate the launch of the new website, a one-month “Water Safety Sign Recognition Quiz with Prizes” campaign is being held, and all are welcome to participate.

The Marine National Park Headquarters’ global website offers a different visual experience of national parks. Entering the website feels like stepping into the ocean world, where a wealth of diverse information is just a click away. We sincerely invite everyone to visit and explore the website and to recommend this thoughtful and high-quality government platform to family and friends.
