From September 16 to September 27, 2016, our Headquarters held the “Sky Winds and Ocean Waves – Penghu South Four Islands National Park Art Exhibition” at the Kaohsiung Cultural Center, showcasing more than 50 artworks. We warmly invite members of the public who are interested in national parks and artistic creation to join us in appreciating Penghu South Four Islands National Park through the eyes of artists.
Penghu South Four Islands is Taiwan’s ninth national park. It features rich marine and terrestrial biodiversity, magnificent basalt landscapes, and traditional architecture, settlements, and historical culture with distinctive local characteristics. Its natural resources are both precious and unique. In addition to Dongsha Atoll National Park, it is Taiwan’s second “marine-type” national park.
The “Sky Winds and Ocean Waves – Penghu South Four Islands National Park Art Exhibition” originated in 2015, when our Headquarters invited renowned domestic artists to visit Penghu South Four Islands National Park for immersive environmental experiences. Through firsthand encounters with the park’s rich ecological and cultural diversity, participating artists created a wide range of works, including watercolor, oil painting, ink painting, calligraphy, ceramics, and mixed media. These artworks present a vivid and intellectually engaging perspective on the beauty of national parks.
Interested visitors are welcome to attend the exhibition at Jhigao Hall, Kaohsiung Cultural Center (open Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday from 10:30 AM to 5:30 PM; Friday and Saturday from 10:30 AM to 8:00 PM; closed on Mondays and during installation and dismantling days). Admission is completely free, and we sincerely invite everyone to visit.
